Murmurs in puppies are not an unusual finding and are often a great source of distress and concern to the owners. Not all puppy murmurs are pathological, requiring medical or surgical intervention but differentiating these from physiological murmurs on physical examination is often difficult.
The Puppy Murmur Clinic at NDSR offers an assessment of puppies with heart murmurs at a reduced cost. The purpose of this initiative is to provide a Specialist assessment of asymptomatic puppies and kittens with a heart murmur without the full cost of a standard cardiac evaluation. With this, we aim to give peace of mind to owners of puppies or kittens with non-pathologic heart murmurs and encourage early detection of treatable and potentially curable congenital heart diseases.
Who qualifies?
Puppies or kittens less than 6 months old in whom a murmur is suspected.
What we offer:
- A full consultation with our cardiology Specialists and Doppler echocardiogram at a reduced fee of £559.
- Further tests or therapy will be discussed with the owner after this initial assessment when needed.
- A full report of the investigations (referral letter) will be provided as usual.
