RVN

I knew from a young age that I wanted to work with animals and after doing work experience in a veterinary practice was determined that veterinary work was for me! I began working at my local practice as a volunteer at the age of 13, scrubbing kennels and eventually working on reception. After completing A levels, I began work as a student veterinary nurse in my local practice and completed my NVQ RVN qualification over 3years, spending 1 day a week at the RVC for practical training.

Once qualified I was determined to work in a referral hospital and expand my skill set. I moved to Bedfordshire to work at Davies Veterinary Specialists for 1 year, and from there moved to the RVC where I spent 5 years as a Neurology Nurse. In 2010 I stepped into the world of management for the first time by joining NDSR as Ward Supervisor.

I have been a member of the NDSR team for 13 years, and during this time have had several managerial positions including, Ward Supervisor, Diagnostic Supervisor, and currently Operational Manager.

As an Operational Managers I oversee the running of the clinical floor, where they triage all emergencies and urgent referrals. I liaise with department heads from different services, redistribute staff and clinical work to facilitate emergency and urgent cases. I also communicate directly with referring veterinary surgeons, offering advice, and providing a quick and efficient referral service.
