Lara graduated from the University of Lisbon in 2015 and shortly after moved to the UK following her passion for internal medicine and with the ambition to pursue further specialisation in this area. She worked in both first opinion and referral centres, where she completed two rotating internships. In 2019, following a medicine specific internship, Lara started a three-year residency programme in Internal Medicine at a busy private referral hospital. She was awarded the European Diploma in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2024.

Lara has a wide interest in all aspects of small animal medicine, particularly renal and gastrointestinal disease and immune-mediated disorders.
