Sofia graduated from the University Lusófona (Portugal) in 2016. Prior to graduation, she completed an externship at the University of Tennessee (USA). Sofia was awarded a Masters Degree in Veterinary Medicine, having presented a thesis on urokinase-type plasminogen activator in canine oncology patients.
After working in a first opinion hospital in Lisbon for 3 years, Sofia moved to England in 2020 to complete a rotating internship at North Downs Specialist Referrals, upon completion of which she extended her stay for a further year as a specific oncology intern, before starting her residency in oncology.
Sofia enjoys all aspects of oncology, with a particular interest in mast cell tumours and electrochemotherapy.
