We are proud to announce that NDSR has achieved Green Accreditation with the national environmental accreditation scheme, iiE (Investors in the Environment)

Our accreditation was supported by a range of impactful initiatives, including:

  • Creation of a bee-friendly garden around the hospital to promote biodiversity
  • A houseplant exchange and propagation programme to enhance green indoor spaces
  • Donation of uniforms to overseas hospitals, promoting reuse and supporting global healthcare communities
  • Recycling of soft plastics, reducing waste sent to landfill
  • Significant reduction in the use of anaesthetic gases, alongside implementation of gas capture technologies
  • Transition from disposable surgical textiles to reusable alternatives, reducing clinical waste

This accreditation is an important milestone, but it is just one step in our ongoing journey. We remain committed to identifying new opportunities to reduce our environmental impact while continuing to deliver outstanding care.

iiE is an accessible and proven route to help organisations get started on their sustainability journey and make a real impact. It has been running for over 15 years, and in that time has helped hundreds of organisations from all sectors and sizes to improve their environmental performance. The scheme is owned and managed by a sustainability charity.
